Juice your way back to Health
I was introduced to juicing after watching the film, Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead. Though I was not fat, sick, or nearly dead I was suffering considerable digestive issues. I was definitely not consuming enough veggies. But how to incorporate it? I started juicing. And here’s how you can start too.
Find a Juicer

When you look into a juicer you will notice there are hundreds of different brands and styles to choose from. I chose an inexpensive centrifugal juicer from Phllips. I loved it but I had to return it a number of times as it the motor kept burning out. It has since been discontinued. I now have a coldpress masticating juicer which is more expensive but worth it. Because of the slower crushing and squeezing action, masticating juicers can process leafy greens and wheatgrass, and the juice that they produce will last much longer than juice made in a centrifugal juicer, which should be consumed right away as it starts losing nutrients nearly immediately. Masticating juicers are pricier than centrifugal models but you get much juice from each item. The more expensive juicers can juice ANYTHING.
Benefits of juicing
When you drink fresh-made green juice, it is almost like receiving an intravenous infusion of vitamins, minerals, and enzymes because they go straight into your system without having to be broken down. When your body has an abundance of the nutrients it needs, and your pH is optimally balanced, you will feel energized and your immune system will get a boost. The beauty of juicing is you can get the nutrient from 5 different vegetables in one juice. My favourite is GREEN juice, Just about as energising as a cup of coffee with none of the letdown, green juice is an incredibly healthy, invigorating way to start your day. Celery is very rich in vitamin K and also contains folate, vitamin A, potassium, and vitamin C. Cucumbers are packed with silica which is great for your skin and hair and Kale is full of calcium and antioxidants and just about everything else. I add a bit of lemon, apple and ginger and a tiny hit of refreshing mint
- 5 large leaves of kale, ribs discarded, leaves roughly chopped
- 1 bunch of celery
- 1 whole cucumber
- 1 lemon & 1 lime , zest and pith removed
- 1 large green apple, roughly chopped
- A 2.5cm piece of fresh ginger
- 1 sprig of fresh mint

Many people experience the feeling of being completely satisfied drinking only living juice as a meal replacement or for many days in a row. Super Foods
Juicing makes adding some super foods to your diet simple. I noticed an immediate difference in my energy level just from juicing once a day.
